Medication to regulate intestinal motility. Trimebutine is used in the treatment of pain secondary to abnormalities in the transit (passage of matter) of the intestine and gallbladder.
Indication
Pain related to intestinal transit disorders.
Dosage
Adult: 1 dose of 15 ml of oral suspension (or 1 sachet, or 1 tablet) 3 times a day, or 1 suppository 1 or 2 times a day.
In some people, the dosage (amount of medication absorbed) can be increased to a dose of 15 ml or 6 sachets or even 6 tablets per day.
Child over 5 years old: 1 dose of 10 ml of oral suspension 3 times a day, or one sachet 2 times a day.
Child under 5 years old: 1 measuring spoon filled to the line (which corresponds to the child's weight) 3 times a day
Undesirable effect
Allergic skin reaction.
Contraindications
Trimebutine should not be used in certain pathologies, particularly in cases of phenylketonuria (due to the presence of aspartame): this is a disease characterized by an accumulation in the body of phenylalanine (amino acid, basic constituent of proteins) and phenylpyruvic acid derivatives.
Precautions for use
This medicine contains carbohydrates (sugar), it is necessary to take this into account.
Pregnancy and breast feeding
The effect of this medicine during pregnancy is not known precisely. Trimebutine should not be used in breastfeeding women.
Remarks
It is necessary to rinse the measuring spoon with water before putting it back into the bottle.
Certain hygiene and dietary advice must be followed: limitation of stress likely to promote intestinal disorders.
The reconstituted oral suspension can be stored for 4 weeks at room temperature. On the other hand, it is necessary to shake the solution before using it.
