NIFUROXAZIDE BAYER 200 mgNifuroxazide in the form of 200 mg capsules Action
Nifuroxazide belongs to the nitrofuran family and acts locally on the bacteria that cause intestinal diseases.

Indications
· Treatment of mild acute diarrhea of infectious origin. This medication should not be used for all diarrhea.
· Complement to rehydration in the treatment of acute diarrhea presumed to be of bacterial origin. This type of molecule is ineffective in viral diarrhea such as rotavirus diarrhea.

Dosage
Adult: 1 capsule 4 times a day.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days unless otherwise advised by a doctor.

Contraindications
· History of allergy to an antiseptic from the nitrofuran family
· Premature
· Newborn

Adverse reactions
· Rash

Precautions for use
In case of bloody or purulent stools, it is necessary to do a stool culture and possibly use a specific antibacterial.
Alcohol consumption sometimes causes Antabuse-like effects.

Please note:
Diarrhea can eventually cause dehydration (significant water loss), especially in the elderly and infants. This water loss must be compensated by drinking enough salty and sweet drinks. In fact, poorly treated diarrhea can eventually cause fatigue, confusion, severe low blood pressure, and more.
Some diarrhea does not require the use of intestinal antiseptics. A few simple dietary measures are sufficient: a light diet, rice water, and applesauce. Fruit juices, raw vegetables, and green vegetables should be avoided.
