Parhon syndrome, also called water and salt obesity, or syndrome hyperhydropexic, is a variety of obesity.

Symptoms of a syndrome de Parhon are:

  • Obesity of the trunk, hips, thighs.
  • Often painful disorder, accompanied by water and salt retention.
  • Migraines.
  • Psychological depressions.
  • Discomfort.
  • Swelling of the skin.

Pathophysiology

Parhon syndrome is a type of'obesity (in English obesity) probably due to a disorder hormonal functioning (pituitary gland, brain) and more specifically to a hormone: theantidiuretic hormone secreted by thepituitary gland in English pituitary), which has the role of reducing the elimination of water by the kidneys. 

Obesity of Parhon is seen mainly in women with menstrual disorders (menstrual disorders).
