Free radicals are unstable chemical elements (ion, atom, molecule) produced in small quantities by the body.
They are mainly synthesized in the cell during reactions with oxygen (oxidation or redox).
In biology, in a living being, free radicals are very toxic.
An example involving free radicals is white blood cells killing microbes, a process that results in the production of pus.
