Ossiculoplasty ossiculectomy

Definition

Definition

Ossiculoplasty is the reconstruction of the ossicular chain of the middle ear.

Anatomy

ossicles (very small bones) of the ear include from outside to inside:

  • The hammer.
  • The anvil.
  • The stirrup.

These ossicles, articulated between them, are located in themiddle ear and transmit through the tympanic cavity, vibrations at the oval window.

After analysis by the brain, these vibrations are the origin of the sound perceived by an individual. The ear is an organ composed of three parts:

  • L'inner ear.
  • L'middle ear.
  • L'outer ear
