monstre

Definition

Definition

By definition, a monster is an individual, a being whose organization, general conformation deviates from that which is natural, physiological, in relation to its species or its sex.
Most often, this word applies to a newborn with a malformation such as acardia (absence of a heart), anencephaly (absence of a brain), etc.

Classification

Depending on whether the elements making up a monster are in excess or relocated (not in their usual place), we distinguish (non-exhaustive list):

  • The simple monster (in English simple monster) or unitary monster: monster in which we only find the elements of a single individual.
  • The double monster: an individual deviating from the unusual conformation, “abnormal” by excess.
  • The autositic monster: a double monster in which each individual has the capacity to live on their own.
  • The parasitic monster: a monster made up of two elements, one of which lives on its own while the other develops in a way that is dependent on its sibling.
