Leukomelanoderma is a pigmentation disorder (which causes skin discoloration) characterized by:

  • Hyperchromia (excess coloring).
  • Hypochromia (color defect).

Cause

Cause

The causes of leukomelanoderma are:

  • Of congenital origin.
  • Following various dermatoses (skin diseases) such as:
    • Tertiary syphilis (cutaneous manifestations of syphilis).
    • A lichen (small raised papule-like spot accompanied by more or less severe itching).
    • An itch.
  • A morphea (a variety of pearly white, hardened scar surrounded by a colored halo tending towards purple).
  • Inflammation secondary to irradiation.
  • A scar.
