Risk test

Definition

Definition

Probability of an adverse event occurring. This is how we talk about risk factors for a disease. We distinguish between relative risk (estimation of risk by comparison with a population) and absolute risk (probability of an event occurring without reference to a population of the same age and sex which does not present risk factors).

Generalities

Risk stratification corresponds to equalization, distribution in various groups of patients who are part of a whole according to the importance of the factors of the scope and the prognostic elements concerning their condition. The operative risk before an intervention is assessed by the surgeon and by the anesthesiologist. This risk is dependent on the importance of the surgical intervention, the patient's history and in general on his condition. Certain pathologies increase the operative risk, this is the case among others of coronary insufficiency (insufficient irrigation of the cardiac muscle itself, the myocardium via the coronary arteries) or respiratory insufficiency. The assessment of the operative risk is of course fundamental. It precedes the preparation of the intervention. Precautions likely to reduce this risk are taken during the act.
