Tobacco addiction: what are the causes?

Definition

Definition

Smoking, and not being able to stop.
Needing to smoke a cigarette to relax, concentrate, enjoy a coffee, etc.

How did we get here?
Is this addiction linked to genes? To the environment?

Generalities

Scientists are clear: the genetic factors intervene twice as much as environmental factors in the tobacco addiction and being a regular smoker would be due to more than 60% of our genetic patrimony.

This means that, if tobacco is dangerous for everyone, tobacco addiction can be much faster for some (we even talk about instant addiction from the first cigarette).
And we have no way of knowing in advance whether our genetics make us particularly vulnerable to tobacco.
The first cigarette, often tasted as a game, out of curiosity or as a challenge, can therefore be enough to become a prisoner of tobacco.

Many researchers consider that Nicotine addiction is comparable to heroin or cocaine addiction.
