Definition
Ampholophotrichus is a variety of bacillus (rod-shaped bacteria) with a tuft of vibrating cilia at each end.
Symptoms
physiology
The term vibratable, designates that which is capable of vibrating, applies among other things in biology to eyelashes, that is, to the expansions of cells appearing in the form of threads and endowed with movement.
These movements ensure various functions and more specifically with regard to the bacteria, that of the locomotion.
Pathophysiology
Le bacillus current is a microbe taking the form of a rodThis variety of bacillus opposes the shells (coccus) which are round bacteria, and spirochetes which are spiral. There are several forms of bacillus (non-exhaustive list):
- Encapsulated bacilli such as Friedländer's bacillus.
- Fusiform bacilli like that of theVincent's angina.
Evolution
Differential diagnosis
The term ampholophotriche should not be confused with that ofamphitricus, a term also used by Ellis which designates a variety of bacillus having a single vibrating cilium at its end.
