A subperiosteal abscess (in English subperiodic abscess) is an inflammation of the bone cells of the periosteum (membrane covering the bone) and the medullary cavity (where the bone marrow is located) caused by a bacterium (staphylococcus).
Generalities
L'abscess is accompanied by a significant deterioration in the general condition and evolves towards a bone phlegmon (suppuration), touching mainly children and adolescents.
