Periintestinal abscess

Definition

Definition

L'periintestinal abscess is an abscess resulting from a very localized intestinal lesion, or from an intraperitoneal lesion likely to gradually penetrate the various protective and covering membranes of the intestine (the meso among others).

Medical exam

Physical examination

The diagnosis of periintestinal abscess is guided by the interview, which sometimes reveals the absorption of a foreign body dangerous (blunt) for the intestines (toothpick, rabbit bone).

Additional examination

  • La radiography allows you to make a difference with a diverticulitis. It also highlights a possible drilling, or a twist of theomentum.
  • L'scan sometimes objectifies the foreign body.
  • Le scanner on the other hand, it rather allows to highlight the penetration of the fat located around the intestine with a more or less heterogeneous contrast uptake.
