Hypertelorism is a malformation of the skull and face, characterized by an enlargement of the lesser wing of the sphenoid bone (horizontal bone located inside the skull, behind the orbits, in its middle part), leading to an enlargement of the distance separating the two orbits containing the eyes, and the root of the nose.
Generalities
Hypertelorism is most often accompanied by:
- In debility intellectual.
- De eye problems.
- De syndactyly (welding the fingers together).
- D'anomalies of the skull and face (as in the Crouzon disease).
