Exotropia is a form of strabismus.
- When the eye deviates outwards, it is called exotropia or divergent strabismus.
- When the oeil is deflected inwards, towards the nose, it is a esotropia or convergent strabismus.

Divergent strabismus is a lack of parallelism of the eyes, accompanied by a deviation of one or both eyes outwards, and mainly affecting older children and adults.
