brown spots, also known as "age spots","sun spots" or "liver spots", can appear at any age (but mostly after 40) on the sun-exposed body's areas : neck,  cleavage, face and hands.
They correspond to pigmentation variations due to various factors : sun exposure, genetic questions, pregnancy, antibiotics treatement, ... 

Fortunately, natural solutions exist to blur and even them. 

1. LEMON JUICE

Why it works ? 

The lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent, it clears up the pigmentation spots.

How to do ? 

  1. Press 1 lemon to extracted the juice 
  2. Soak 1 cotton with a little of lemon juice 
  3. Rub the spot with the soaked cotton during few minutes 

 

2. BANANA AND LEMON JUICE 

Why it works ? 

The banana is rich in antioxidant. As we said before, the lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent, it clears up the pigmentation spots

How to do ? 

  1. Take 1 banana and the juice of 1 or 2 lemons 
  2. Peel the banana and cut it in slices
  3. Crushed them to obtain 1 puree 
  4. Then mix this puree with the lemon juice 
  5. Apply the mixture on the area to be treated 

Renew the operation 1 time a day

 

3. THE ONION 

Why it works ? 

The onion contains various compounds able to reduce the skin pigmentation on the melasma. It also feeds the skin and clears it. 

How to do ? 

  1. Cut 1 onion slice
  2. Rub it on the spots during 5 minutes 

Renew the operation 1 time a day

 

4. CIDER VINEGAR 

Why it works ? 

The cider vinegar is known to help to balance naturally the skin's pH. It is the acetic acid present in the vinegar that will help to eliminates the spots. 

How to do ? 

  1. Mix equal quantities of cider vinegar and water
  2. Apply this solution on the melasma spots before letting dry in the open air 
  3. Then rinse with warm water 
  4. Dry the skin delicately by dabbing with 1 towel without rubbing 

Renew the operation 1 time a day

 

5. TURMERIC 

Why it works ? 

The turmeric reduces the melanin in the pigmentation, and its antioxidant properties eliminate the skin toxins. 

How to do ? 

  1. Mix turmeric powder with a little of warm water to obtain 1 paste 
  2. Apply it on the skin during few minutes 
  3. Rinse with warm water 
  4. Dry delicately with 1 towel 

Renew the operation 1 time a day

 

6. OATMEAL 

Why it works ? 

The oatmeal exfoliates naturally the skin and dissolves its dead cells. 

How to do ? 

  1. Mix some oatmeal with a little of water to obtain 1 paste 
  2. Then apply it on the spots to be treated 
  3. Leave on for 1/2 hour 
  4. Rinse with warm water 

Renew the operation 2 to 3 times a week

 

7. ALOE VERA GEL 

Why it works ? 

The pure gel of the aloe vera plant is rich in E, A and vitamins and contains enzymes which accelerate the cellular regeneration. 

How to do ? 

  1. Apply the aloe vera gel on your spots, by massaging until it is absorbed by the skin
  2. Leave on 
  3. No need to rinse 

Renew the operation 1 time a day

 

8. PAPAYA 

Why it works ? 

The papaya is an excellent exfoliating which help to renew the skin cells. 

How to do ? 

  1. Peel 1 ripe papaya piece 
  2. Then, rub the internal part on the affected area 
  3. Let the papaya act 
  4. Clean the skin with cold water 

Renew the operation 3 to 4 times a week

 

WARNINGS

  • Apply these treatments only on the evening (or in a place where the sun's rays can't penetrate ) : the sun exposure could worsen your spots state. 
  • Although these products are natural, an intolerance reaction is possible : to avoid any risk of allergic reaction, test the preparation on a small zone of your wrist and wait 1/2 hour before apply it on your face. In case of uncomfortable feeling (burning, itching, …), rinse with cold water.
